NEUTRAL + BALANCED
Transforming this 90s home took clever planning to maximize the layout and create a striking impact. The existing kitchen was half the size with a pantry closet as well as a railing and column closing off access to the family room. The dining room was enclosed with a different ceiling height than the adjacent formal living room and a narrow entry from the foyer into the formal living room made it difficult to "welcome" guests in. While keeping all rooms in the same location, we demolished the unnecessary walls and features that impeded the flow of the main floor to create as much of an open floor plan as possible with a staircase in the middle and managing load bearing concerns. The contemporary new finishes along with custom built-ins flanking the new fireplace, a bold powder room for guests to remember, a 14 foot island within a kitchen full of storage, a dining room with an artistic take on furniture and a formal living room with a cove ceiling feature allow this home to function extremely well while being a joy to live in. While the process was full of twists and turns, our ability to know the details thoroughly allowed this design to be executed true to the intention established at the beginning of the project.
